5 Reasons Your Family Should Be in Branson Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend is an ideal time to celebrate the hard work you do all year. Treat yourself to a mini-break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life with a trip to Branson. Since Labor Day Weekend happens from Friday, September 1 through Monday, September 4, 2017—it’s still summer weather in Southwest Missouri. Squeeze in the last bit of the season in Branson. From lake fun to theme parks, this destination has it covered. Check out these five reasons your family should be in Branson Labor Day Weekend. Then, try to find a good excuse to not starting making travel plans.

1) Table Rock Lake

Table Rock Lake

As a local, this is my favorite summertime spot. I can’t get enough of this gem of a lake. Bordered by green tumbling mountains, the blue waters are welcome way to spend a day. The best way to do so is by renting a boat. Nearby marinas, such as Table Rock State Park Marina and Long Creek Marina, offer boat rentals. Pontoon boats start at as little as $210 for four hours. Not bad, considering how much fun you’ll have. Some even have slides—total bonus! At Table Rock Lake, you can also ride jet-skis, kayak, and parasail. If you don’t want to rent a boat, don’t worry. You can still experience Table Rock Lake at Moonshine Beach. Admission is $4 per car. Access is to a manmade sand beach with great views of the lake.

2) Silver Dollar City

Lost River

You can do it all at Silver Dollar City, which means every member of the family will be happy. The teens can ride thrilling roller coasters like Outlaw Run, while Dad will get a kick out of watching the craftsmen demonstrate their skills. Likewise, the little ones will love the new Fireman’s Landing section of the park, and the shopping opportunities in the craft-based stores will please Mom. On top of that, the whole family can also get in on the excitement of group rides that make a splash: American Plunge and The Lost River. Either way you play at the park, you’re sure to have a blast.

3) The Track Family Fun Parks

The Track

There’s just something about go-karts that equals family fun. Maybe it’s the friendly competition or the grown-up feeling a kid gets when they can drive on their own. It’s a little bit of everything, I guess, and at The Track you can do it all. From high-speed go-karts to kid-speed karts, to bumper cars and bumper boats, arcade games to miniature golf, the activities available add up to a classic good time. A few of the extreme go-kart tracks to look forward to are the 1,200 foot, four-story Heavy Metal High Rise; four-story spiral track Wild Woody; and the Lumberjack, the first wooden high rise coaster.

4) White Water

White Water Wave Pool

Branson’s water park will be open one last weekend in September—Labor Day Weekend. Visit this tropical paradise before it closes for the season to experience of two million gallons of aquatic adventures. Dare the drop of Kapau Plummet; the steep slide of Kalani Towers; and the twisting raft ride that is Pipeline Plunge. Afterward, relax in the Aloha River, then go for a splash at the Surf’s Up Wave Pool. There’s plenty to do for the little tykes too: Splashaway Cay and Coconut Cove are filled with water features deal for making your kid giggle with joy.

5) Promised Land Zoo

All families seem to have at least one kid who’s an animal lover. This is why the Promised Land Zoo makes the list. Here, you can see animals from all over the world on foot safari. Look for antelope, zebra, kangaroo, big cats, medium cats, baboons, spider monkeys, lemurs, and many other groups of animals including deer and prairie dogs. In addition, live shows allow up-close encounters with animals not on exhibit at the Zoo. Bottle-feeding opportunities for baby zebras, camels, watusi, goats, deer and more are available, too. If that’s not enough, the Zoo’s Parakeet Paradise has an array of exotic birds so colorful they bring a bit of the tropics to Branson.

Say goodbye to summer with a Branson Labor Day Weekend. After all your hard work, you deserve it!
