About 8 million people visited Branson last year, thanks in large part to the variety of attractions available, as well as, the convenient location. One-third of the United States population is less than a day’s drive away. Plus, there are two nearby airports, the Branson Airport and Springfield-Branson Regional Airport, where you can get great rates on a flight.
There’s more to Branson, Missouri than music shows. A vacation destination that began as a haven for fisherman offers plenty of outdoor activities, unique shopping and world-class golf. There’s also news of a race track being built, which is still in the planning stages.
There’s a little bit of history to everything Branson, including its signature theme park – Silver Dollar City. Marvel Cave, located at Silver Dollar City, began giving tours during the 1950’s, making it the first official attraction of the theme park, which late opened in 1960. The Baldknobbers began performing in and around Branson in 1959, and they have a theater on Highway 76 to this day. Their generations of talented family members keep the music alive.
Branson is a golf destination as well, with Branson golf courses boasting come of the best greens in the country. There are 13 golf courses in the area, with Murder Rock, Branson Creek, LedgeStone, and the Payne Stewart Golf Club being some of the top tier facilities. The Thousand Hills Golf Course, Pointe Royale Golf Course and Holiday Hills Golf Course are also options.
Shopping in Branson gives visitors a little bit of everything, as there are several outlet malls, including Tanger Outlet, as well as the new Branson Landing, a waterfront shopping, dining and entertainment complex home to Bass Pro Shops, Belk Department stores and many other name brand stores.
Of course, Branson shows are known for their country music twang, and you’ll find plenty of Branson country music shows to entertain you on your vacation. But, there are also other music genres on Branson stages. At shows like Legends in Concert, SIX, The Twelve Irish Tenors, The Haygoods and Hooray for Hollywood, you’ll enjoy a wide range of entertainment that includes everything from pop to rock to operatic. Shoji Tabuchi, Andy Williams and Yakov Smirnoff bring their own unique talents to the Branson show scene, and families will enjoy shows like the Acrobats of China, Kirby VanBurch and Hamner Barber Variety Show.
