If you’ve ever been to the Dixie Stampede Branson then you know one of the best parts of show is the food—especially the just-like-mom-made creamy vegetable soup. For years I’ve wanted to know just what was in that delicious soup, and how I could make it in my own kitchen. When Dolly Parton released her book Dolly’s Dixie Fixin’s my cravings had an answer as the Dixie Stampede soup recipe was finally revealed. Below, you’ll find all the ingredients needed and instructions on how to make the Dixie Stampede soup recipe. I’ve even included how you can bypass the from-scratch method and buy the Dixie Stampede soup mix for those nights when you feel like having a home-cooked meal but don’t have the time.

Dixie Stampede Soup

Dixie Stampede Soup Recipe

Surprisingly enough, this recipe is fairly easy to whip up. Most of the ingredients are kitchen staples, and likely stocked in your pantry right now. People do vary this recipe to their own liking. For instance, I like to use more vegetables for a chunkier soup while others like to add potatoes to the vegetable mix. I also use salted butter rather than margarine, but the choice is yours. Experiment a little bit, and let me know if you come up with a flavor combination that’s out-of-this-world.

Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 4 servings

3 tablespoons margarine
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon corn syrup
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 1/2 cups water
3/4 cup finely chopped cooked vegetables (I use a frozen vegetable mix of carrots, green beans, corn, and peas. Feel free to use fresh veggies of your choice or canned vegetables)
1 pint half-and-half cream (Use heavy cream for a thicker, richer taste)
Chopped fresh parsley (For garnish, optional)

1) In a 3-quart sauce pot, melt margarine. Add onion, garlic, and corn syrup. Simmer 1 minute. Do not brown this mixture.
2) Add flour, white pepper, salt, chicken broth, water, and vegetables. Simmer 3 minutes.
3) Add half-and-half. Simmer until desired consistency. Stir constantly. Do not bring to boil.
4) Garnish with chopped parsley and serve.

Now, for the shortcut: If you’re not much of a cook or short on time, you can purchase the Dixie Stampede Creamy Vegetable Soup Mix online or at the theater’s gift shop. The price is $7.99 and each bag contains approximately eight servings. The mix includes the soup base only, so you’ll still be able to add your preferred mix of vegetables.

At the show, the soup course includes a cheddar biscuit, which I highly recommend. If you’d like to make your own biscuits to serve with your homemade soup, here’s two tried and true recipes I follow: a from-scratch verion and a quick-fix that uses a little help from my friend Bisquick. When you’re in a pinch, though, any store bought roll or bread will do.

Use the Dixie Stampede soup recipe to make some of the creamiest, tastiest, most-people pleasing soup you’ve ever had. Better yet, get tickets to the Dixie Stampede and taste the original version—no cooking needed.

The Park’s newest ride, Outlaw Run, is an award-winning, one-of-a-kind wood coaster with speeds up to 68mph, an amazing 162-foot drop and is the only wooden coaster to twist upside down. It’s the best rush! Plus, Outlaw Run is the second fastest wooden coaster in the world. That’s just the start of it, though! Buckle in for soaring loops and white-knuckle inducing thrills on Wildfire, PowderKeg and Thunderation. The Giant Barn Swing also excites as it climbs to great heights, only to swing (more like freefall!) back to earth. See if you can handle the belly-flop of this ride before splashing into aquatic attractions at the park.

Silver_Dollar_City_(0366)Water Rides

During the heat of a Branson summer, nothing beats climbing aboard Silver Dollar City’s water rides for a cool down. Try the classic toboggan fun of American Plunge, or see if you can rage the rapids of the Lost River. In 2015, Silver Dollar City Branson is making way for an all-new attraction – Fireman’s Landing. The firefighters-themed play area, which is replacing Geyser Gulch, features 10 new family adventures. Six kid-friendly rides and four interactive play zones are planned, all of which aim to salute the spirit and courage of firefighters. Designed with the atmosphere and theming of an old-time firefighter recruitment fair, activities will test skills of recruits while training and entertaining.

sdc_familyClassic Family Fun

Silver Dollar City appeals to visitors of all ages. Younger members of the family leap with joy at the thought of exploring the Grand Exposition, home to kid-friendly rides like the Magnificent Wave Carousel, Elephant March, Royal Tea Party and Grand Exposition Coaster. The fun continues at Half Dollar Holler, a playscape designed with half-pints in mind. Bring your energy to traverse through treetop fun houses, climbing nets and mazes. Then, all aboard the Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train for a trip back in time through the Ozark Mountains. Don’t forget to explore beneath the park too. You see, the park is located on top of Marvel Cave – which was the original reason the Branson attraction became a must-visit. The cave tour is included with Silver Dollar City tickets, so make time for it during your day at the park.

Silver_Dollar_City_(70004)Demonstrating Craftsmen

Part of Silver Dollar City’s appeal is the simpler time it invokes. Throughout the park you can views demonstrating craftsmen using techniques passed down from generation to generation. Beautiful works of art are created right before your very eyes. Watch as skilled workers craft treasures, all while displaying their knowledge of the art form. Two of the favorite craftsmen to watch are the glassblowers and blacksmiths. See which one stands out to you during your visit!

SDC_BBQShopping and Dining

Along with the demonstrating craftsmen, individual shops at the park offer one-of-a-kind items and souvenirs. It’s easy to shop at the park, too, because you can have any or all of your purchases packed and kept for you at the entrance of the park. So, you can browse and buy then hop on a coaster! Easy as pie. Speaking of pie, the food at Silver Dollar City is pretty sweet too! From candy shops, where sugar is spun into delicious concoctions to eateries boasting skillets of potatoes, sausage and vegetables to giant turkey legs, you’ll definitely be able to satisfy the cravings you create trekking the hills of the park.
