The beauty of the Ozark Mountains is no secret. However, there is a place tucked away in the Ozarks that is a bit of a secret: Dogwood Canyon Nature Park. Located about 16 miles south of Branson, this park is one of the most peaceful and picturesque places to visit in Southwest Missouri.

Dogwood-Canyon

During the fall season Dogwood Canyon is made even more beautiful as the foliage turns from green to vibrant reds, yellows and oranges. Plus, temperatures are cool and comfortable so you can easily take advantage of all the outdoor opportunities available at the park without working up a sweat. At the over 10,000 acre facility visitors get access to a true wilderness experience.

Outdoor activities include:

A round-trip paved trail covers 6 1/2 miles and is relatively level. It guides you past beautiful limestone bluffs and tumbling waterfalls, over bridges formed of native stone or hand-crafted of wrought iron, and even a covered bridge of Amish construction. Beautiful rainbow trout swim in clear spring-fed waters, easily visible as you pass by. Along the way expect to see a variety of native wildlife, with your best chance being earlier in the morning.

Horseback Riding
Gather your crew and head out to Dogwood Canyon for a one-of-a-kind horseback view of the majestic Ozark Mountains! A wrangler will guide your group on an unforgettable 1-2 hour trail ride. Travel to the tops of the ridges where you will take in some of the most breathtaking 360 degree views the Ozarks have to offer. Then make your way down the winding valleys and across rolling pastures filled with buffalo and longhorn cattle.

Enjoy the beauty of Dogwood Canyon Nature ParkSegways
Experience the adventure of traveling via Segway through Dogwood Canyon’s most breathtaking sites on this round trip tour to the Glory Hole, a magnificent blue-green pool where some of our largest trout reside.

Fishing
One of Dogwood Canyon’s greatest appeals is the sparkling, spring-fed water that is home to our beautiful rainbow trout. We offer half-day guided catch and release fishing, fly casting clinics, two day fly-fishing schools and hourly opportunities to keep or release. No license or trout stamp is required. Tackle and rental rods are available

Dogwood_Canyon_Nature_Park_(11655)Tram Tours
The Wildlife Tram Tour provides a comprehensive journey into this special property, taking about 2 hours. You will travel beyond the Glory Hole into the more rugged reaches of the canyon, cross the Arkansas border, and ascend some 300 feet to our bison, elk, and longhorn pastures. The tram tours are the number one attraction at Dogwood Canyon. They are handicap accessible and provide a comprehensive journey through this corner of the Ozarks.  While on the tram, do some wildlife spotting as herds of bison and elk still live on Dogwood Canyon grounds. Other herds on the grounds include whitetail deer and Texas longhorn cattle.

If you plan on spending the day at Dogwood Canyon Nature Park, your best bet is to purchase the Adventure Pass. It cost $59.95 for adults and $34.95 for children, ages 3-11, per day. With it, you’ll enjoy access to walking, biking, wildlife tram tours, self-guided trout fishing, as well as discounts on Segway tours and trail rides.

The entrance to the nature park is located on Missouri Hwy 86. Enter 2038 Missouri 86 Lampe, MO 65681 into your GPS for navigation help.

Families will be happy to hear Cici’s Pizza is now open in Branson. The new Branson restaurant just so happens to be the largest out of the 450 locations throughout the United States. With a dining area that covers 8,000 square feet almost 400 guests can dine here. In addition, there’s a ready-to-go pizza area, two party rooms, and a 5,000 square foot game room for arcade-style family fun.

Cici's Pizza Branson

Cici’s Pizza Branson is an affordable option for many, garnering a mass following due to its incredible food quality at low cost. For just $6.99, guests can dine on all-you-can-eat salad, pizza, soup, pasta and desserts. It’s one of the best values in Branson for families.

The owners of Cici’s Pizza Branson are Nolan Fogle, and his wife Babette. They’re the minds behind other Branson restaurants such as The Great American Chicken House and Pasghetti’s. If you’ve seen either in person you know both have a flair for extreme design, with a giant chicken helming the former and a giant fork and meatball at the latter. So, it’s no surprise this Fogle restaurant wouldn’t follow the same concept. When the main entrance is complete in about 6-8 weeks, it will be adorned with a giant pizza slice. In front of the restaurant there will be an arcade-inspired motif: think Pac-Man maze.

With bigger and better in mind, Cici’s Pizza Branson also has a massive game room featuring around 60 games. Ranging from ski-ball to Jurassic Park, Dead Storm Pirates, hot shot basketball and more. A lower level with an additional 10,000 square feet of space, the Fogles are planning to open a new attraction there next summer. Ideas in the running include laser-tag, bowling or glow-in-the-dark golf.

Cici’s Pizza is located at 3460 West 76 Country Blvd and is open daily from 11am to 10pm.

rsz_1rsz_news_453781247Initial groundwork has already begun to open a 40,000 square foot, $10 million indoor family adventure attraction in Branson, Mo., in the summer of 2016. One of the last remaining properties showing evidence of the 2012 Leap Day Tornado was recently acquired and demolition of the Silver Fountain Inn is scheduled to make way for the development.

“I am excited for this new family attraction to open on Branson’s famous Highway 76,” says Mayor Karen Best. “I believe it will have a positive impact on our city and the millions of visitors we host, and I’m looking forward to seeing heavy equipment on-site and sharing more details at the October event.”

A press conference and project announcement is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, when the development team will reveal the name of the attraction and more details. “It’s been a long time since Branson has seen a project of this magnitude,” says Project Manager Billy Ong. “I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the nation’s premier family attractions, and this project will help raise the bar in the family entertainment industry.” Jonas Arjes, Executive Director of the Taney County Partnership added, “This is the type of investment we hope to see more of as the city progresses on the ‘Spirit of 76’ renovation project.  Infrastructure improvements attract new business development, and right now, Highway 76 is the biggest infrastructure project in the region.”

“We’ve seen an increase in the number of families with children traveling to Branson,” said Mayor Best. “Projects like this represent ongoing efforts to ensure Branson remains one of the nation’s top leisure destination markets. This is a family friendly concept that will offer many ways to experience memorable and fun moments together while vacationing or celebrating special occasions.” Ong adds, “Our goal is to become a place for all members of the family to enjoy.  We are excited to be the newest addition to the incredible lineup of things to do in Branson in 2016.”

A project announcement and press conference is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on October 6, at the Silver Fountain Inn located at the intersection of Hwy 76 and Fall Creek Road in Branson, Mo. Project details, including the name of the attraction, building and site plans, and integration with the “Spirit of 76” project will be revealed at that time.
