Join the Branson Landing as they host the 7th Annual Liberty Light Up on July 3, 2014.  The event celebrates America’s Independence Day in a big way, with a concert and amazing fireworks display planned.  This year’s featured performers is Journey Resurrection.

You may remember the band Journey Resurrection as Chain Reaction – A Tribute to Journey.  However, the group has added new members and been revamped with a new name.  Ryan Christopher is still the stunning vocal talent of the group, recreating the voice of Steve Perry on Journey hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Open Arms,” “Wheel in the Sky,” “Faithfully” and “Any Way You Want It.”  Journey Resurrection will take the stage at 8pm in front of the Branson Landing fountains.  Following the concert, the skies will light up over Lake Taneycomo with an amazing choreographed fireworks displays produced by Gateway Fireworks Displays.  After a signature grand finale, The Horn Dawgs will retake the stage to end the evening on a high note!
Make a night of it at the Branson Landing by enjoying dinner at one of the complex’s restaurants before Liberty Light Up.  Waterfront dining options include Old Chicago, Joe’s Crab Shack, Cantina Laredo and Garfield’s Pub, among others.  Finish your meal off with a scoop of ice cream from Marble Slab Creamery and you’re all set to kick back, relax and enjoy the festive Liberty Light Up events in Branson, Missouri.  You can also choose to stay at the Branson Landing.  The Hilton Promenade is located right across from the Branson Landing fountains, making it a convenient lodging choice.

One of the most engaging ways to experience the culture of the Ozarks is visiting the Shepherd of the Hills Homestead.  The Branson, Missouri attraction is home to numerous activities and is imbued with the history and heritage of these rolling hills.

To get a true overview of complex, I recommend the 60-minute Historic Homestead Tour.  During your visit you’ll board a Jeep-drawn tram and learn all about the history that framed Harold Bell Wright’s famous novel – The Shepherd of the Hills.  You’ll visit historic structures on the tour, including the original structure of Old Matt’s Cabin.  The cabin served as the Ross family home for approximately 30 years before it was established in history through Harold Bell Wright’s famous novel (and on the National Registry of Historic Places). Inside the cabin you will find numerous antiques and historical items, including clothing worn by John and Anna Ross, some of their furniture, photographs, tools, cooking utensils, and much more.
Other historic stops include Little Pete’s Cave, the Harold Bell Wright Museum and the homestead church.  The quaint church was constructed in 1901 and resembles one that Harold Bell Wright preached in during his time in Kansas.   During your tour you’ll also get a behind the scenes look at The Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Drama.  Be sure to stay for the show as it recreates the Wright’s famous story live under the stars in Branson.  The show, which is one of the longest running outdoor productions in the United States, takes over 80 actors and actresses, 40 horses, a flock of sheep, several guns and rifles, an actual burning log cabin, and a vintage 1908 DeWitt automobile to make the live action performance the legend that it is today.

Other things to do at the historic homestead include Inspiration Tower, Vigilante ZipRider, Trail Rides and the Round Up on theTrail Chuckwagon Dinner Show.  Take a ride to the top of the 230-foot tall Inspiration Tower to get a panoramic view of the Ozarks.  The enclosed observation deck is a perfect place to snap souvenir photos.  From the top of Inspiration Tower you can also experience the Vigilante ZipRider.  Launching from the open air deck of the Inspiration Tower, the Vigilante ZipRider whisks guests on an adrenaline pumping downhill ride over The Shepherd of the Hills’ 160 acre homestead.  Zip down ½ mile cable, reaching speeds of 50 mph while taking in the sights of the homestead. You can also take a 30-minute trail ride through history on horses used in the outdoor drama.  A guide will take you on some of the same trails the Baldknobbers rode. See the majestic Ozark hills, The Trail Nobody Knows How Old, ride down in the Holler, all in the beautiful shade of the Ozark woods.

Visit the Shepherd of the Hills Homestead in Branson to get a glimpse of the original Ozarks.
