Summers at the lake are a Branson tradition. Between boating, fishing and water sports, the areas lakes are the perfect place to discover fun in the sun. This summer Table Rock Lake will host the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour on June 8 and 9, creating some adrenaline fueled competition that is pure entertainment.
The exact location of the event is Moonshine Beach. The Pro Men’s Qualifier, Junior Pro Men’s Quarterfinals and Pro Women’s Semifinals will be held on June 8. The Pro Men’s Quarterfinals, Junior Pro Men’s Semifinals, Pro Men’s Semifinals and Junior Pro Men’s and Women’s Finals will be held on June 9. The event will end with the Pro Men’s Finals and “Big Air Kicker” contest on June 9.
The Branson, Missouri stop is the third stop on the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour. Tour competitors compete for points on every stop of the tour, with the competitor with the highest number of points crowned Pro Tour Champion in their division.
Wakeboard is a spectacular spectator sport as the action-packed activity combines water skiing, surfing and snowboarding. Boarders excel at all sorts of tricks, including the “tootsie roll” and “tweety bird.” Not sure what these look like? Be sure to head to Table Rock Lake to find out!

The original musical production of Joseph has debuted at Sight and Sound Theater in Branson, Missouri to rave reviews. The Broadway-style production is performed on one of the world’s largest stages. Sight and Sound Theater previously hosted Noah the Musical from 2008 through 2012.

Joseph features a cast of 40 actors, dozens of live and exotic animals, and a 30-high Egyptian Palace wraps around the 300-foot stage, encompassing the audience. Branson visitors with Joseph tickets will witness a depiction of the classic biblical story magnifying virtues of integrity and forgiveness. Sight & Sound Theater’s Joseph has several amazing dream sequences including Joseph in his colorful coat “flying” over the audience and twenty original songs.

Bluegrass & BBQ are the main attractions at Silver Dollar City starting May 10. The Bluegrass & BBQ Festival, which lasts through June 3, features performances from some of today’s most popular Bluegrass musicians as well as some of the nations’ most delicious BBQ. Two special events are also held during the festival – the Annual Single Mic Championship and KSMU Youth in Bluegrass Band Contest.

The 6th Annual Single Microphone Championship will take place May 19 and 20, 2012 at the Opera House Theater. The contest highlights talented bluegrass bands that perform using the single microphone style, which was made popular in the 1920s, 30s and 40s by bluegrass bands.
The11th Annual KSMU Youth in Bluegrass Band Contest is scheduled for May 26 and 27, 2012, also at the Opera House Theater. Amateur entertainers 21 years of age or younger will be featured as they compete for top honors and cash prizes.
Of course, the tempting flavors of BBQ are also a highlight of this Silver Dollar City festival. Everything from smoky Texas-style BBQ to tangy Carolina BBQ to the deliciousness of Kansas City BBQ will be available. During the Bluegrass & Barbeque Festival you can also sink your teeth into the All-You-Can-Eat Rib Feast. Served from 3pm until closing at Reunion Hall, succulent BBQ meats and a variety of sides are served family style at this feast. Sink your teeth into four styles of Ribs including Silver Dollar City Original-Style, Memphis Dry Rub, North Carolina Vinegar and Honey Blackberry. Beef brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, a fresh salad bar and all the fixin’s are also served.
More and more flight are being announced for the Branson Airport, making traveling to the Ozarks easier and easier. The newest air service announcement is from Social Flights, who in coordination with Branson AirExpress, will operate flights between Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Branson, Missouri.
The flight service, which will be available almost daily, starts May 12. The two-hour flight is currently priced at $14 one way.
Earlier this year the Branson Airport announced a new non-stop flight service from Branson to Chicago and Houston, starting April 16, as well as seasonal nonstop service to and from Austin, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee. The airport has also partnered with Southwest Airlines, which will convert AirTran Airways at Branson to Southwest Airlines operations over time.
Paul Harris has invaded the White House – the White House Theater that is!
Harris and his band The Cleverlys will be performing at the theater for at least the next three years. Branson visitors can look forward to a show that combines comedy, country music and new, bluegrass-style twists on hip-hop and rock songs.

The show features a first half Harris’ signature stand-up comedy interspersed with classic country tunes and a second half dedicated to Harris’ band The Cleverlys, which performs bluegrass style versions of hit rock and hip hop songs. Some of the songs they have covered include “Single Ladies” by Beyonce, “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas, “I Kissed a Girl” by Katy Perry, “Owner of a Lonely Heart” by Yes! and “Walk Like an Egyptian” by The Bangles. The group released its self-titled debut album in December, an independent album that has received rave reviews as well as garnered them a following known as the “Cleverheads.” The Cleverlys have also become a YouTubesensation, with their videos amassing over 2 million views. Band members include Harris on lead vocals and guitar, fiddler Mark Pearlman, banjoist Steve Bush, drummer Stevie Wilkerson and bassist JimBob Farris.

The IMAX Branson is featuring its 19th Annual FilmFest now through May 10. During the FilmFest IMAX hosts films that take guests on unchartered adventures to places they likely will never be able to see in person. Neal McCoy will return to Branson, Missouri to perform at the Oak Ridge Boys Theater. McCoy has been performing limited engagement shows in the country music town since 2009.
The Neal McCoy shows start July 19, with other dates available in August, September, October and November. In total, McCoy will perform nine shows in Branson. Undoubtedly, fans will be treated to his most popular hits – “Wink” and “No Doubt About It” – as well as many other country gems.
McCoy has a new record that debuted in March titled “XII.” Songs from that album will also be showcased during his Branson shows.
Branson is known for its country music shows and this summer some of the biggest names in country music will take the stage at the Black Oak Amphitheater.
The Country Throwdown Tour, headlined by platinum-selling artist Gary Allan, will be featured at the amphitheater on May 19. The show will utilize three stages and showcase performances by eight artists and groups. In addition to Allan, the main stage will include performers Justin Moore and Josh Thompson.
