Description

from Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Drama
At The Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Theatre, Harold Bell Wright's epic story of love, loss, power, hardship, and the true meaning of life is immortalized. It takes over 80 actors and actresses, 40 horses, a flock of sheep, several guns and rifles, an actual burning log cabin, and a vintage 1908 DeWitt automobile to make the live action performance the legend that it is today.

Since our first season in 1959-60, the outdoor drama has entertained millions of Branson visitors. People who came to see the show as children come back to bring their own families. The cast members exhibit the loyalty and affection they have for the story itself. Several of them have been in the drama since its inception. The Shepherd of the Hills is not just another Ozarks show - it is the story of the Ozarks.

Staff was friendly and helpful. They upgraded our seats since it wasn’t a packed house which was nice. We visited on a pleasant evening so we enjoyed the show very much.

Tip: It’s lots of steps to climb for the bathroom or refreshments. Sitting is pretty tight so if warm weather wear very cool clothes.

You really can't condense the whole book into 2 hours, but they did a great job. We enjoyed it immensely.

My friends and I had been looking for a zip line that was really high and fast. After looking around on review sites and YouTube we stumbled upon this one. We decided to go for it. The day we showed up it started raining and they temporarily closed it. They were very professional and respectful when they explained why we couldn’t do it in the rain. They allowed us to come back the next day anytime. When we showed up the second time they remembered us and quickly took us too the top and got us ready to go. The ride was very smooth and had great views. I felt safe and secure while riding. Don’t let the height and speed scare you. It is an amazing zip line. It was so smooth we were able to hold our phones and film while going full speed. Overall great experience and awesome views.

An outdoor production that is done using live animals. This tells the story of Matt & Molly. This is an actual book written over a hundred years ago. It’s also been done as a movie starring John Wayne. This play runs the gambit of all emotions. The actors are wonderful & very convincing in their roles. Oh, another thing I liked is the beginning. America, our flag & our veterans are all honored. Then you say The Pledge of Allegiance. They do have chairs for you to sit in & not just cement tiers like in most amphitheaters. There’s concessions & restrooms. Trams take you to & from the parking lots. Also other activities to do there. This is a great way to spend an evening with family & friends!

"Zipline and more"

We combine the zipline, vigilante and the ropes course into a one day adventure. We were very impressed, the morning of our scheduled events rain was in the forecast and the weather outside showed it. We received a phone call from Shepard of the hills concerning the weather and rescheduled for the afternoon. When we arrived, we found the staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this adventure.

I am so lucky that I was able to see this play again! Of course there have been a few changes since I first seen it, but the essence has remained the same! Anybody going to Branson should support this gem!

"ZipRider was pricey but very cool. UTV exerience was superior."

There's quite a tower here and I spent $30 to ride the zip line from the top. As I explained to my wife, I wanted to jump off a perfectly good tower for no particularly good reason. The ride from the top takes about 40 seconds once they push the release button and goes approx. a half mile the landing pad. You ride in sling chair with two safety belts on so I'm convinced that it'd be safe even for wiggly kids. Once at the bottom you're brought back to the top in a jeep-drawn tram car. On the whole? Pricey for the experience. As a one-off, I'm not sad I did it but I think $20 for the experience would be more reasonable. However, it's Branson, everything is pricey. It's a tourist city. What we really enjoyed was the UTV experience. We paid for the longer of the trips, 90 minutes of which 60 or so is spent driving a four-seat side-by-side UTV around a small patch of woods. The path is winding enough and varied enough that even though I recognized the same tree going by left to right then later right to left, I didn't feel like we were simply driving in circles. The driver of the UTV, currently Can Am Mavericks, must be a licensed driver. The back seats of the UTV are tight and not well suited for 6-footers. Children and, in my case, short wives are fine. Pricing is on a sliding scale decreasing per passenger for more passengers. I thought the value for the price was excellent. The UTVs are governed to keep you from getting into serious trouble but there's plent of trees to be dodged. That part was fun but they do remind you that you agreed, in all the fine print, that you're personally responsible for repairs if you crash it so do be careful. That said, I had a blast. The ticketing station for this is poorly marked as of this time with a temporary sign. If you're going in summer or fall of 2018, plan extra time to get lost & re-found. The ticket people are in the white house at the top of the hill before the tower. My only complaint is now I want my own UTV.
