Description

from Million Dollar Quartet
Welk Resort Theatre is proud to present an all-new production of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, inspired by the electrifying true story of the famed recording session where Sam Phillips, the "Father of Rock 'n' Roll" brought together icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for one unforgettable night.

On December 4, 1956, Sam Phillips, owner of Sun Records in Memphis and the man who discovered and started their careers, brought together the four legends-to-be for the only time in their lives, for what has come to be known as one of the greatest rock jam sessions of all time.

Featuring the greatest rock 'n' roll, gospel, R&B and country hits from these music legends, including "Blue Suede Shoes," "Walk The Line," "Folsom Prison Blues," "Who Do You Love?," "Great Balls of Fire," "Hound Dog," and "Whole Lotta' Shakin' Goin' On," Million Dollar Quartet tells the story and captures the high energy spirit and rockin’ sounds of a unique moment when four of music’s most extraordinary talents, all in their creative prime, came together for one of the most memorable nights in music history.

"A Well-known Story Told Effectively"
August, 2018
We had seen this show before, but were quite impressed with the production in Branson. The sound quality was very good - not too loud to cover the singing. The cast was quite good, although the Elvis Presley actor seemed to be the weak link in the group. All others were outstanding.

I would recommend this show and I would go back and see it again!! I would recommend for ages 10 and up we had a family sitting behind us with small children and a baby and the baby kept crying through the whole show and the small children couldn’t keep still. But hands down one of the best shows in Branson

"Like Being There...."
August, 2016
This show was amazing, more like a version of the Broadway Play. The musicians were so talented, sounded like the original performers, had their actions down, they actually became who they were portraying. Sound and lighting were great, it would be a great family show for anyone who likes Rock & Roll. The 4 main characters were amazing, but equally amazing were they female singer, the "owner" of Sun Records, and the band. Being a bass player, I will tell you, the guy on the Upright is as amazing as anyone on stage. You need to see it if you are a fan of any of the 4!

"Awesome Music!"
July, 2016
MDQ is well acted and the actors became their characters and all were great musicians. Great Music, even better history of the four as it provides as early glimpse into Sam Phillips' Sun Records.

Could be the best show in Branson! Must see. All the four actors who played the quartet were true to real life. Excellent musicians. Even the two who played the bass and drums. Sam Philips and Diane great too.

Excellent show! The actors playing Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis are amazing musicians and performers and do their characters justice. Sam Phillips is engaging and really brings the story to life. Diane brings heart to the show. And the athleticism of Brother Jay? Wait till you see the stunts at the end!! If you're in Branson, you won't want to miss this show!

Wow! What a great show, the performance of each entertainer was terrific, the play it’s self made you feel like you were back in time to 1956, the music was spot on, the actors who protray the characters done a excellent job that made you feel like they were that character. I would highly recommend this show if you are in the Branson area.

I had not seen this show before and was pleasantly surprised. It is excellent. The thin plot ties the show together nicely.
