"Making a splash in Branson"
August, 2017 NEW
This was our son's first visit to Branson. It was the warm February of 2017. We stayed at Welk Resort and splashed in the Splashatorium. The front desk associates were friendly and the room was clean and tidy.

Tip: Get ready to have fun splashing in heated indoor pools. The water was plenty warm.

"Love but failed on one aspect."
August, 2016
My family had an amazing time at the Welks resort! It was not far from down town everyone was very friendly! The splash-a-torium is the icing on the cake but let me warn you the water IS FREEEEEZING! Of course it didn't bother my kids but it was way to cold for me which is crazy because I LOVE swimming but this was just miserable cold so I was very thankful for the hot tubs they had! The rooms are very small which made it difficult for us to find places for our luggage but we managed just fine. The bathroom on the other hand was super spacious and had tons of counter space! The only other problem we had was our room not ever getting cleaned by house keeping. We come in at 2 everyday to lay our kids down for a nap & house keeping had never been by for the 3 days we went there so for 3 days we had our trash taken out & that was it. It would have been nice for them to have focused on cleaning the rooms for their guests that we're currently staying in first and then cleaned the rooms that people had checked out of last. All in all it was a nice place to stay. Would probably stay here again but would have to talk to a manager about our previous experience of not getting rooms cleaned.

Tip: Don't expect your room to be clean before 4pm. Water at splashatorium is FREEZING COLD even in 100 degree heat!

"Family Vacation"
October, 2015
We loved this resort and will definitely tell others and stay here again in the future. It was so kid friendly, yet, things for adults to do as well. The resort was located in a spot where you could miss all of the main traffic and still get to all of the hot spots fairly quick. Two thumbs up...

We stayed her just for the pool and splash pad and it did not disappoint! The staff is very friendly, rooms are clean, and the restaurant has really good food. They also have a game room but we did not try it out. Definitely a nice place to stay if you are bringing your kids. They even had a movie at the pool on Saturday night!

"We love this place!"

We just returned from our second stay at the Welk Resort in Branson and it was another great vacation! We have a 14 year old daughter who is in a wheelchair and a very active 6 year old son. We also travel with our MIL who has some knee issues. Welk is perfect for us! The grounds are easy to get around and everything is a short walk and level ground for a wheelchair. All public places have tons of space the pool has a chair lift if needed for those in a wheelchair. The Splashatorium is rather small, but we love that. Our son is never far away, but has plenty to do. There are always a ton of kids and the other guests have always been great. Lots of poolside activities (although this time, they didn't do as many and some that were scheduled didn't happen - I imagine this is because it was Labor Day weekend and they probably have lost lots of staff to College). Everything is incredibly clean - this is HUGE for me. The pool is spotless! They have lots of evening poolside activities and the pool is busier at night than in the day (poolside movies, Smores, etc). During the day, the pool has never been crowded, which is perfect for our daughter. You can have food and drink delivered poolside and the food is really good (so are the drinks). The staff are so professional and very accomodating. My son loves the putt putt course and the activity room that is near the pool area. Hands down, one of our favorite quick get aways! The rooms are somewhat small in the hotel, and we get adjoining ones to accomodate my MIL and daughter and it works well. We will look into the cabins/condos next time. The bed are ok and the pillows are not great so recommend bringing your own. They supply plenty of pool towels and have a gift shop to provide anything you forgot.

""Splashatorium" is okay but really more at the "nice hotel pool" level, not the "worth an extra fee" level"

We got a deal for this hotel and so decided to stay here. Trip was a little disappointing (not the hotel's fault) because we apparently picked a really bad time to visit (first week of school, which we thought MIGHT mean "lower crowds" but in practice meant "lots of things aren't open"). The room was nice. Ice machine location was frustrating: not all floors have ice machines and there was no signage in the hallway, so it took me twenty minutes and a trip to the front desk to find one the first night. The ice machine was actually only about twenty feet from my room, but it was twenty feet on a vertical diagonal so it meant a trip to the end of the hall, down the stairs, then halfway back down the hall. The resort supposedly has a lunch/dinner buffet but it was closed when we were there. The restaurant was open but we weren't terribly impressed by the menu, so opted to go off-site. There's a breakfast buffet also, but it is NOT included in the price of the room (hotel guests do get a "discount" if you buy the buffet at the front desk instead of going to the buffet itself; we skipped this as well and just had an early lunch). The theatre show was dark the two nights we were there, which is probably why there was no dinner buffet. The first day we were there it rained, so we didn't get to do the (free) mini-golf, but we did see the course and didn't feel like we missed anything truly spectacular; if you're traveling with kids it would probably be a good way to entertain them for 45 minutes or so without spending any extra money, something that can be difficult to do in Branson. Finally, the "Splash-a-torium". The hotel's website calls this a "water park", but realistically it's just a large indoor/outdoor pool with two large hot tubs (one inside, one outside) and a short water slide. The picture shows about half of the entire thing, so if you were thinking you'd found a cheap alternative to White Water ... not so much. Also, in addition to there being a charge to get in, there's an additional charge to use a locker, so maybe just leave your valuables in your room. If you're getting in late at night from Springfield or Harrisonville, IGNORE the GPS directions that take you down Fall Creek Road and just stay on 76 until you pass the Titanic Museum, then turn south on 165. 165 is the road that the Welk Resort is actually on; Fall Creek Road is a shortcut from near the 65/76 intersection to near the Welk Resort, but it's a largely unlighted goat path with sharp turns and hills and unless the traffic on 76 is REALLY bad you're probably better off avoiding it once it gets dark. The resort isn't especially close to either downtown Branson or Silver Dollar City. It is a couple of miles from the 76 strip and is fairly convenient to Table Rock Dam and the trout hatchery there. It's only about a mile and a half as the crow flies from School of the Ozarks, but there's a river (technically a lake, but it LOOKS like a river) in the way and the closest crossings are in downtown Branson and across the dam itself, so it's several miles away by road. If you don't mind that a lot of the nearby attractions are closed or on a limited schedule, the rates here in the off-season are fairly low for the quality of the resort itself.

I'm very happy with my stay at Welk the passing Labor Day weekend! We made the reservation two days before arrival. this is a kinda of last minute vacation decision. Somehow, there was a misunderstanding about Google Travel reservation. But the Welk front desk person was so nice/helpful to help solve the problem! Love the resort location, not too close to the crowds, but 12 minutes drive to downtown Branson. Room is clean and decent for the 3-star standards. My 3-year-old loved the pool. We went for the $9 breakfast and it was a great value. We will definitely go back. But we will pick up a time not holiday as our price doubled compared to the no-holiday rates. Anyway, worthy it!!
