"Bad experience!"
June, 2017
No bedbugs, but hole in the wall in one room and no working AC. The other room had AC but couldn't turn down. It was dirty and dark in the hallways. We also had trouble with the front desk with payment issues. The employees we sent had to leave before breakfast since it was not until 7:00. I am the secretary that made the reservations so felt bad that the experience was not pleasant.

"Wonderful Stay"
March, 2017
Room was very clean and very large. Bed was comfortable. There was a mini fridge in the room. The air conditioner worked well. I had a corner room and even though there were a lot of people staying there, it was quiet. Breakfast was OK..biscuits/gravy...eggs, waffles, juice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Outdoor pool was not open but neither were the ones at other hotels in the area.

"Better than expected"
August, 2016
We were down in D building near the indoor pool. The room was surprisingly nice for a cheap hotel. The indoor pool was nice but definitely was not actually 5 ft deep. There are balconies off of the pool. Not far from main strip.
Breakfast was packed and not worth the effort.

Nice pool and the staff was wonderful. The rooms are a little out of date, but very clean. I would not suggest eating at the continental breakfast though.

"Spring break weekend"
March, 2015
The front desk staff was great. The room was good beds were clean and comfortable enough. The pool was nice and the breakfast ladies work very hard to put out a good breakfast. The only thing we didn't like was the air conditioning wasn't working properly but it was cool enough outside to run the fan and keep it cool. We would stay here again.

After having a less than favorable experience at another location, we went searching for an alternate place to stay for our next trip. Southern Oaks looked nice and was located in a convenient area. We stopped in and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It seemed as if they had just bought the place because they said they were waiting for their business cards to come in. They offered ground floor smoking rooms and pet-friendly with deposit, pending availability, although they warned us about holidays and peak times. Very nice people. We will check the place out our next trip.

We have stayed at Southern Oaks Inn since 1994. This year when we checked in, the room smelled moldy AND there was a dehumidifier in the room. Went back to the front desk and the clerk assigned a new room by the indoor pool. Breakfast was per-packaged except the scrambled eggs... not so tastey. Will begin to look for another place to stay.

Very quite room. The staff was very friendly. Room was clean, nice size, bed was great. Only complaint would be the bathroom was pretty small & toilet was very small. They have a breakfast buffet but we didn’t eat it.

BED BUGS!LOTS OF BED BUGS!!! The family who traveled with us and was right next door to our room. THEY had a major problem with bed bugs which I assume most of the hotel has them too since their room was as bad as it was! Their daughter got bitten over 15 times in 2 nights as well as the parents!!!! We even caught LIVE bed bugs to show management plus pictures of bites. But, the Mangers themselves never showed up to look around the rooms.. 20 minutes later, they finally sent the maintenance man over; whom never even looked at the rooms or checked around! (clearly, they know they have an issue) Not to mention, we suspect he was on DRUGS which made us very uncomfortable. Both families were in and out of both rooms the whole weekend so now we ALL must take precautions so we don't bring anything home with us!!!!! OTHER THINGS: Upon arrival, the maintenance man was moping the floors but did not DILUTE the chemicals. It was overwhelmingly strong with no AIRFLOW throughout the hallways and the whole hotel. Clearly, not a good environment for being 5 1/2 months pregnant and just for anyone in general. The breakfast was mostly all MICROWAVED from biscuits, to eggs, and to the gravy. The juice, especially the orange juice was disgusting!! almost tasted old! The staff did not smile and almost made you feel as if you were a burden for staying there. The family we came with has stayed there in previous years and were appalled by the change of environment. We soon realized that they have new owners and standards of quality are not the same! Although my friend did get the refund, we did not. We were all accused of "Bringing them in ourselves" and that the hotel doesn't HAVE BED BUGS and it is "treated." So you can tell right there that nothing will be done to help prevent other families to have to deal with kind of madness. REPEAT: DO NOT STAY HERE! SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY to stay somewhere else!!!!

"Bed bugs! "

My family and another family stayed at Southern Oaks Inn over the weekend. We found over 15 bites on my 5year old daughter and multiple bites on myself. While we inspected our beds we found live and dead bed bugs. We actually caught a couple and put them in a cup to show the owner. We called the front desk and asked for a manager to come to the room immediately. They sent their maintenance man, he didn't even inspect our beds. They did refund our stay but didn't refund our friends because they said they didn't have bed bugs in their room. Even though they had been in and out of our room and their daughter had been playing on the beds. They were very rude to our friends when they tried to get a refund also. Now we all have to go through the tedious precautions to make sure we don't bring any of the bed bugs home with us. We actually stayed here a few times years ago but never again!!
