This was our third Valentines Day stay. The property is beautiful, and very well maintained. Their Sunday Brunch is second only to the King Kam in Kona Hawaii, and only because King Kam is located in Hawaii. The staff is very friendly, BUT it only takes one bad attitude to ruin the experience. We arrived on Sunday 2/12/17. We sat down to relax with a Bloody Mary before Brunch. The Hotel has many eating areas, the Main Dining room where Brunch is served, and the Atrium Café to mention two. Main dining is elegant, Atrium is casual. I asked the Bar Tender if sweatpants would be appropriate attire for the café. He said absolutely. Monday night after relaxing all day, my Wife and I went down to get a sandwich and soup for dinner at the café dressed in sweats. Although all café tables were set up for service, the hostess in charge said that we could not sit in the café, and that we had to eat in the main dinning room. I stated that we were not dressed for the main dinning room. The hostess laughed and stated that "there is no dress code for the main dining room" We were escorted in, and my wife requested a table off by itself, she was informed that the table was not cleaned, and we were seated in the middle of folks in suits and ties. I was embarrassed by our dress, and we left. At the hostess station, I asked why we could not sit in the café. We were told that there was not enough staff on hand for us to sit in the café. The fact of the matter is that the café is about 30 feet from the kitchen, while main dinning is at least 60 feet away. While at the hostess station, we were interrupted by another guest calling in an in room dining order. After that call I asked if we could order for in room service, I was allowed to do so, but attitude got involved again. My question to owners/managers...If you have enough staff to deliver the EXACT SAME ORDER to our 8th floor room, why not serve us in the café? At this point I hope that this incident will fade, because we really enjoy being there for Valentines Day.
