Their two hour show pays tribute to The Beatles and is produced by Louise Harrison, the sister of George Harrison. If a taste of the islands is needed, head over to Island Fire at the Dutton Theater, where Samoans perform traditional dances and create fiery entertainment, all served with a delicious Polynesian inspired meal.

Golf in Branson is another way Dad’s are sure to have fun, as Branson is home to several world class golf courses. Whether he tees off at the extraordinary Branson Creek Golf Course or Murder Rock Golf Course, or sets his sights on the holes at Pointe Royale or Thousand Hills, there are plenty of ways for Dad to score a hole-in-one in Branson.

Hot Winter Fun in Branson Heats Up!

Regardless of the season there are always lots of special and exciting things to do in Branson, Missouri and that’s what Branson’s Hot Winter Fun is all about. Even in January, when a lot of Branson’s shows and some attractions and activities that are weather dependent are closed there is always shows to see, loads of fun to be had and things to do, and memories to be made.

The majority of Branson’s shopping, major attractions, museums, movies, restaurants and a broad choice of lodging are open. If there’s one thing that doesn’t miss a beat during winter, or any other season, it’s the fabulous shopping that Branson is noted for. With the number and variety of stores in Branson there is a shopping experience to meet just about every shopping need or desire.

Branson’s premier shopping – attraction location, Branson Landing and its 100 plus shopping and restaurant venues are all open and offer a variety of shopping and dining conveniently located in one location. In addition, weather permitting The Landing’s spectacular free $7.5 million synchronized water, fire, and music show is amazing to see.

Branson’s other major malls, Tanger Outlet, Factory Merchants, Imax Shopping Complex and The Shoppes at Branson Meadows are all open. When the rest of the specialty shopping that Branson has to offer such as those available in historic downtown Branson are factored in, Branson just might be the perfect illustration of the place where a person can truly “Shop till they drop.”

The Grand Country Complex offers an indoor water park and miniature golf course and live shows including the Buck Trent, Grand Jubilee, and the Comedy Jamboree shows. Where else but Branson, MO can a person experience the ferociousness of dinosaurs at the Dinosaur Museum and the daintiness of thousands of White Butterflies at the unique “White Flight” spectacular in the Butterfly Palace?

Branson has a museum for just about every interest. Their size and exhibits are as diverse as the “Titanic - World's Largest Museum Attraction,” a huge one half scale replication of the Titanic dedicated completely to the memory of it, its crew and passengers, to the “The World’s Largest Toy Museum.”

Branson’s museums also include “The Veteran’s Memorial Museum,” dedicated to America’s Armed Forces; “The Hollywood Wax Museum” an action packed tribute to Hollywood’s stars and movies; “The Roy Rogers Museum” celebrating the “King of the Cowboys” and the lessons of a bygone era; “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” featuring unusual and unique exhibits from all over the world and housed in a building, Ripley’s says, is one of the most photographed in the world.

The month of January features two very special events at Branson Attractions. “White Flight” is finishing out a limited engagement at the Butterfly Palace, through Jan. 15. It features a blizzard of thousands of white butterflies flying in a rain forest lit with thousands of lights, and music that combine in a unique one of a kind spectacular.

On January 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. the “Titanic - World's Largest Museum Attraction” will be presenting its Third Annual Ice Sculpturing Event. The competition features some of the world’s most accomplished ice sculptors as they create fantastic creations out of 250 pound blocks of ice. The event is free and is held at the bow of the Titanic located at the intersection of Gretna Road and State Highway 76 in the heart of Branson’s strip.

In keeping with Branson’s long standing tradition of honoring America’s Veterans, the signing of the Vietnam Peace Accord will be remembered on January 28. A special program will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Golden Corral to mark the day in 1973 when one of Amerioca’s most controversial wars came to an end. Please contact Barbara Linderer of the Branson Veteran’s Task Force for additional information on this even at 417-337-8387.

The Branson IMAX Discovery Theatre offers a full selection of IMAX Adventure films, shown in the giant IMAX format on its giant six story high IMAX Screen with 22,000 watts of digital surround sound. In addition to showing the latest Hollywood feature films in its three state of the art Elite Cinema theatres the IMAX also shows selected on the IMAX screen at selected times each day. The Branson Meadows Cinema also offers 11 screens showing the latest feature films.

The opportunities for outdoor activities from hiking, golfing, kayaking, fishing, boat riding, and even a dinner cruise on the Branson Landing Princess are, although weather dependent, boundless. Just a simple walk along the boardwalk at Branson Landing beside Lake Taneycomo with your family and the opportunity see a Bald Eagle in Flight will be unique and just might provide that special memory that could last a life time.

Titanic Branson Announces Events for 2009 Season

As 2009 draws closer, Branson's Titanic Museum Attraction is set to launch the New Year with a series of unique special attractions that creatively link
present-day events with the glories of Titanic 's past, announces John Joslyn, Titanic owner.

"Our 2009 winter/spring events promise to be the most exciting yet," notes Joslyn. "We're bringing back favorites, extending engagements and adding surprises," he says. To date, scheduled events include:

January - Titanic's 3rd Annual Ice Carving Competition

Come watch the world's most celebrated ice sculptors chisel 250-pound blocks of ice into fantastic designs. This free one-day event is held in Titanic's outdoor entertainment center (at the ship's bow) Saturday, January 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. As part of the Titanic Museum Attraction's ongoing series of annual family events, last year's competition drew more than 4,500 visitors. Arrive early for the best views to all the action.

February - Sweetheart Month and Wedding Vow Renewals

Experience the power of love during "Sweetheart Month." The entire month of February is Titanic's Valentine tribute to romance and the lasting love of devoted couples everywhere.

Last year, 1,948 couples renewed their wedding vows during Sweetheart Month, and new bookings already indicate 2009 will surpass that impressive number. Held in elegant style on Titanic's Grand Staircase, every ceremony is presided over by the ship's captain.

Reservations are required. Our appointment book fills rapidly for this extremely popular event. To keep the romance alive and steer clear of icebergs, we recommend immediate reservations!

March - Titanic Irish Festival

Celebrate the Irish and their Titanic legacy throughout the month of March. 2009 marks the third year the Titanic Museum Attraction has used music and song to honor the memory of the Irish men and women who built and sailed the ship.

What began as a spirited three-day celebration in 2007 became a hugely successful two-week family affair last year and returns in 2009 to cheer visitors for an entire month!

April - Titanic Princess Tea Party

Much to the delight of mothers and daughters throughout the Midwest, the most popular and successful of all Titanic special events returns for its third year--the Titanic Princess Tea Party.

This celebration of proper etiquette, manners and style is modeled after the formal tea rituals of the Titanic era. Each young lady will receive a two-hour "crash-course" on the dos and don'ts of classic, social behavior.

Seating is limited and reservations are required.

Christmas in Branson is a Winter Wonderland of Fun

It’s the most wonderful time of the year in Branson, Missouri.

Twenty years ago, the entertainment district in this resort town in the Ozarks shut down for the season. Then, one by one, the attractions realized what a draw the Christmas holiday would be and now hundreds of thousands of visitors brave the chilly weather to flock to Branson in November and December.

Singer Andy Williams truly represents the classic American Christmas show for most folks over the age of 40.

His Christmas show in 2008 keeps that spirit alive. Mixing in some familiar favorites like "Walking in a Winter Wonderland" and "It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year", Williams sings and dances with the energy of someone 20 years his junior.

The show has great music and laughter. Willims does a bit with Bob Anderson, a world class singer and impressionist. Anderson is dead on in impersonations of a drunken Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Tom Jones, Nat King Cole and last but in no way least - Andy Williams.

Williams sings while Anderson mocks his mannerism behind his back on stage. The kicker is when Williams and Anderson - impersonating Williams - sing a duet.

Williams foregoes an intermission to get as much Christmas spirit into one show.

Williams does two shows - one at 3 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. - from Monday to Saturday every day from Nov. 1 to Dec. 13. The theater is closed on Nov. 26 - the day before Thanksgiving. There are no matinees on Nov. 24-27.

What a country!

Yakov Smirnoff loves America. And he loves Christmas.

His Christmas show in November and December packs them in even though the shows are in the afternoons and morning. The Russian jokester’s monologues and film clips chronicle a career of standup comedy and work on TV and film. In one clip he plays, he tells the late Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show that America has a lot of things you can’t find in the former Soviet Union.
Like warning shots.
Yakov has a nice blend of spontaneous comments and audience participation. In a mock presidential news conference, he takes questions from the audience while pretending to be the president. And as funny as the show is, Yakov tells a sentimental story of his first Christmas in America and how through the generosity of three perfect strangers, he found some new friends in the New World.

Yakov performs his Christmas shows at 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Nov. 18 and 20 and December 2-3 and 9-10. He does only the 9:30 a.m. show on November 15, 19, 22, 25-26 and 29 and Dec. 4, 6-7 and 11-12. On the following dates, he has only one 3 p.m. show - Nov. 16, 21, 23 and 30 and December 5.

An Irish Christmas

A dozen talented vocalists - some from Ireland and a few from America - put on an amazing vocal show during the Christmas season at Branson.

The Branson Variety Theatre hosts sold-out crowds for this group of singers and dancers.
Beside some familiar Christmas tunes, the 12 Irish Tenors sing old favorites, including "Danny Boy", "That’s Life", "You Raise Me Up", "Hey Jude", "Twist and Shout", "Yesterday", "Cockles and Mussels", “Nessun Dorma," "Music of the Night" and more.

Their rendition of Danny Boy alone is worth the price of admission.

The 12 Irish Tenors perform their Christmas show at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on November 16, 23 and 30 and Dec. 7. The show is at 10 a.m. only on Nov. 18 and 20 and Dec. 2, 4, 9 and 11. The shows are presented at 3 and 8 p.m. on Nov. 17 and Dec. 1, 5, 8, 12, 14 and 19-20. The show is at 3 p.m. only on Nov. 25 and 27 and Dec. 16-18. There is only one 8 p.m. show on Nov. 19, 26 and 28 and Dec. 3 and 10.

An Old Time Christmas

Much of the history of Branson revolves around Silver Dollar City and the rich Ozark Mountain heritage. That theme is in full swing this November and December with Silver Dollar City’s An Old Time Christmas.

The 1880s-style theme park has more than 4.5 million Christmas lights. The Square has more than a million lights alone. There are 350 miles of lights plus more than 1,000 decorated Christmas trees.

The 50-foot tall Christmas tree on the Square has 350,000 LED lights. The Christmas on Main Street show is incredibly synchronized - to one hundredth of a second. There are 100 light changes every second.

“With the addition of even more lights and effects, we’ve dramatically enhanced the atmosphere of the Square,” said Trudie Kelly, Silver Dollar City visual supervisor. “The LED lights also help to cut back on energy consumption throughout the park.”

For the adventurous, the park’s roller coasters are open at night for a spectacular view of the lights. Inside, the Broadway-style production of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol adds to the Christmas spirit. This is an original adaptation of the classic story.

Also, at Silver Dollar City, the employees can say, “Merry Christmas” instead of just “Happy Holidays.” Silver Dollar City is open Wednesdays through Sundays in November, Thursdays through Sundays through Dec. 14 and open daily December 18-23 and December 26-30. On most days, the hours are 1-9 p.m.

Festival of Lights

The Branson Area Festival of Lights started on Nov. 1 and stays until New Year’s Eve.
The drive through the display is on the Shepherd of the Hills Expressway Lane, across from the new Sight & Sound Theatre (home of Noah, the Musical).

The festival begins with a one-mile drive with more than 230 colorful light displays and almost one million lights. The festival is open daily from dusk to 11 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and from dusk to midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Branson Landing

We stayed at the Hilton Promenade on Branson Landing. That puts you right in the center of one of the most scenic parts of town and in the middle of a convenient shopping district.

It’s a great place to plan to watch the 60th Annual Adoration Parade and Lighting Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 7.

The two-mile parade route goes right through history downtown Branson.
Titanic Display

A small wicker suitcase that once belonged to Millvina Dean - the only living survivor of the Titanic disaster - will be on display at the Titanic Museum in Branson until Dec. 31.

“This will be the world’s first look at an important piece of Titanic history, one that’s not been seen by the public for 96 years,” said John Joslyn, owner of the museum. “We feel privileged to be given this unique opportunity to honor Millvina Dean and her contributions to Titanic’s legacy and to showcase one of her most valued possessions - a small, memory-filled suitcase.”

Dean was a baby girl when the unsinkable Titanic sank 96 years ago. Her mother and young brother survived while her father perished. Arriving in New York with nothing but the clothes on their backs, a stranger gave this small suitcase filled with donated clothing.

The museum has a treasure of artifacts, photos, history and memorabilia of the Titanic plus a full display of the Titanic movie.

More than a million visitors have come to Branson to see this museum.

Titanic Relic Displayed at Titanic Museum for First Time

A suitcase that was given to a mother and her two children when they arrived in New York after being rescued from the Titanic is now on display in Branson.

The small wicker suitcase, owned by Titanic’s only living survivor, Millvina Dean, of England, is on display through the end of the year at Titanic Museum Attraction.

“This will be the world’s first look at an important piece of Titanic history, one that’s not been seen by the public for 96 years,” said John Joslyn, owner of Titanic Museum Attraction. “We feel privileged to be given this unique opportunity to honor Millvina Dean and her contributions to Titanic’s legacy and to showcase one of her most valued possessions — a small, memory-filled suitcase.

“It tells the story of a 9-week-old baby girl and a 96-year-old disaster at sea.”

According to Titanic owners, on April 10, 1912, Dean boarded Titanic in third class with her parents and older brother. Her father, Bertram Dean, perished with the ship.

Millvina Dean was lowered into a lifeboat and rescued along with her mother and brother. The family of three arrived in New York City with only the clothes on their backs. They were soon greeted by New Yorkers who gave them a small wicker suitcase filled with donated clothing to help rebuild their lives.

On Oct. 18, the suitcase was auctioned to raise money to help pay Dean’s nursing home fees. The suitcase was bought for $18,790. By special arrangement with the new owner of the suitcase, Titanic Museum Attraction will have the suitcase on display in Branson for two months.

Inside the suitcase is a letter from Dean telling museum visitors about the suitcase.

The letter reads, “I am both the youngest and last remaining survivor from RMS Titanic. The suitcase belonged to my mother and was given to her in New York as we had lost all of our possessions when the Titanic went down. My parents, brother and I were emigrating to Kansas aboard RMS Titanic.

“My mother, brother and I were rescued from lifeboat No. 13. We spent time at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York and subsequently returned to England where the suitcase remained in my home until now.”

Titanic Museum owners reported they will contribute to paying the costs of Dean’s care at Woodland Ridge Nursing Home in Southampton, England, as an expression of thanks and appreciation.

Noah The Musical Brings Bible Story to Life in Branson

Curly the Camel experienced a momentary bout of stage fright, and Scrappy the Goat lived up to his cantankerous reputation.

And it rained. And rained. And rained.

But the rain, along with thunder and lightning and the unexpected antics of about 100 live animals, is among the reasons “Noah — the Musical” has visitors to Branson tapping their toes and applauding a new level of entertainment in a city where nearly 100 shows of all formats already fill stages day and night.

“The whole auditorium gasped when they raised the curtain on the second act,” said Melissa Pulis of Springfield, who saw the show with her 5-year-old son, Collin, soon after it opened in late May. “He kept saying ‘I’m in the middle of the ark,’ and it really felt like we were.”

The larger-than-life musical indeed places spectators in the middle of the action. When the animals board the ark two by two they prance down the aisles right through the audience. The 300-foot-long stage wraps around the seats on three sides.

If that weren’t enough, the distinct aroma of live animals, the swaying of the boat as flood waters lift it from the ground and the powerful dialogue of Noah’s distressed family as the world disappears before them help create a dramatic presentation rarely seen in Branson.

“The Branson audience is used to a musical performance of about 90 minutes, so it’s going to be interesting to see people react to more of a Broadway-style, big theater production,” said Bonnie Bosso, vice president of production for the show, which runs about 2 1/2 hours.

“This show is not just unique to Branson but really unique to the country in terms of its scope and its message,” she said.

Long before guests get their first whiff of hay or hear the first strains of the prerecorded orchestra, they know something is different about this theater and show. On the north side of Branson on a hill distant from the Missouri 76 melee, the three domes of the Sight & Sound Theatre tower above the city, creating an image some locals have called “Little Jerusalem.”
The Sight & Sound Theatre company, based in Strasburg, Pa., is often referred to as “the Christian Broadway” by theater critics and fans. The name Sight & Sound refers to the parables Jesus used to spread his message. It is the company’s first permanent theater outside Pennsylvania.

“The stories are written with all people and all ages in mind,” founder Glenn Eshelman said. “We most certainly appeal to the Judeo-Christian audience, but people from all religions and from all over the world have experienced the show — possibly attracted to the epic proportions and quality of the shows.”

The new theater is Branson’s 53rd and the first since Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Theater opened in 2005.

Physically, at least, no other building in Branson measures up to Sight & Sound. At 339,000 square feet, it is the largest building in the community, more than 100,000 square feet larger than the Branson Convention Center, which opened in September 2007. With 3,811 seats, the 15-year-old Grand Palace offers more seating than Sight & Sound’s 2,085 seats, but Sight & Sound’s structure also includes office space and construction workshops.

The stage also is the biggest in Missouri. Its 40-foot-tall sets are comparable to those of New York’s Metropolitan Opera House, and its 300-foot-long stage is bigger than the one at Radio City Music Hall.

Tom Fish, the architect and project manager during construction, compares it with the Grand Hall of Kansas City’s Union Station, which has a 95-foot-high ceiling and 72,930 total square feet. Fish was a consultant to one of the architectural firms involved with the train station’s renovation and is now director of operations at Sight & Sound.

“The biggest issue we had to deal with was a ventilation system necessary for so many animals in house,” he said. “Designing a green room for the animals was a career first for me. In fact, I’m not sure it’s ever been done in this country.”

Below the massive auditorium and stage is a 35,000-square-foot housing and training facility for a collection of animals almost as diverse as the one in the Bible story of Noah. Camels, llamas, alpacas, pigs, cows, donkeys, zebras and a panoply of birds receive the attention and pampering one might expect for the stars of a major theatrical production. The soundtrack from “Noah” gently fills the animals’ living quarters 24 hours a day. Fresh hay fills their stalls each day. The animals receive recreation in an adjacent five-acre pasture. And although they don’t require makeup, the animals are each brushed and groomed every day before their performance.

In some ways the Branson version of “Noah” even one-ups the Bible story. The version in Genesis requires two of each species; the Branson production requires three. Although the animals enter the ark two by two, a third “understudy” is waiting in the wings.

The collection is missing one species that had been written into the script. A pair of skunks, meant to provide a lighthearted moment as Noah holds his nose at their passing, were eliminated by Branson ordinances.

“Apparently the city of Branson is afraid that the skunks would procreate within the city limits,” Bosso said.

Branson didn’t excise all the humor from the show. In a scene not clearly referenced in Genesis, Noah climbs from one story to the next in the ark, checking on the animals. When his wife calls him to dinner, instead of going back down four flights of stairs, Noah simply slides down a fire pole.

One challenge for actors was adapting to so many live critters in the spotlight. At auditions, which were held in about a dozen places across the country beginning last December, the actors were asked about any allergies to or fears of animals. Rehearsals included bonding time between the animals and the 45 actors. Watch closely as a St. Bernard puppy puts its head on Noah’s lap and you’ll see Noah discreetly reward the dog with a treat.

Actress Candida Arvizu, 34, who moved to Branson from New York in 1995, plays three roles — a belly dancer, an ark worker and Havah, a friend of Noah’s family. It is her responsibility to get the pigs, rabbits and pigeons on board the ark.

“The animals certainly keep things lively,” Arvizu said. “I try to help my friend manage the goats because they are so anxious to get on board and be rewarded with a treat that it’s like water skiing down the aisle just holding onto their ropes.”

Despite highly technical production values that include fireworks, nearly 200 animatronic animals and a laser light show, among the most important pieces of equipment are a broom, a shovel and an invention nicknamed the “poo-boni.” Just as a Zamboni is used to clean up and freshen the surface on ice rinks, the poo-boni cleans up the droppings occasionally left by the animals in the public areas of the theater.

“We try to feed and exercise the animals on a very strict schedule so as to minimize their deposits, but we anticipate accidents to happen and the audience to play along with it,” Fish said.

The Sight & Sound Theatre has been in the works for nearly five years. In addition to the hundreds of temporary jobs created during construction, the theater employs 250 people full time, including some who have moved to Branson to be part of the show.

“This is a destination, not just an experience within the destination of Branson,” Bosso said.
Getting there

“Noah” is performed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday at the Sight & Sound Theatre, 1001 Shepherd of the Hills Expressway. If you’re taking children to see the show, ask for seats on the center aisle for the best view of the animals.

Backstage tours of the Sight & Sound Theatre begin June 21. The cost will be $9 per person.

Dick Clark’s American Bandstand Theater, which opened in 2005 at 1600 W. Missouri 76, has added a five-acre outdoor events arena called Area 57, ideal for car and motorcycle shows. Each weekend Area 57 screens drive-in movies from the 1950s. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to throw on the ground.

Titanic: The World’s Largest Titanic Museum Attraction, 3235 W. Missouri 76, open since 2006, has remodeled the upstairs first class dining room to incorporate memorabilia from the 1997 blockbuster movie “Titanic.” It includes wardrobe items worn by Kate Winslet and Kathy Bates, plus a diamond and sapphire necklace similar to “The Heart of the Ocean” that appeared in the movie.

Celebration City, 1338 Missouri 376, an amusement park affiliated with Silver Dollar City, has a new water ride called Roaring Falls. Splashing through a simulated Amazon forest, the raft carrying you and your friends drops 50 feet to raging rapids below.

SIGHT & SOUND Sight & Sound Theatres was founded in 1975 by Glenn and Shirley Eshelman of Lancaster County, Pa., and entertains more than 800,000 guests a year at two theaters there.

“Noah — the Musical” debuted there in 1995. It is scheduled to continue in Branson through 2009. It will be replaced by another Bible story production by Sight & Sound. Among those are “In the Beginning,” “Behold the Lamb,” “Abraham and Sarah — a Journey of Love,” “Ruth,” “Daniel — a Dream, a Den, a Deliverer” and “Psalms of David.”

Titanic Museum Celebrates Film's 10th Anniversary

Coinciding with the start of the ocean liner’s maiden voyage, the Titanic Museum Attraction launched an exhibit dedicated to James Cameron’s Oscar winning movie “Titanic” in celebration of the film’s 10th anniversary.
The exhibit, which took about eight months to put together, proudly displays props and costumes from the movie, such as lifejackets, ladies hats, and two garments worn by Kate Winslet in her portrayal of the fictional character Rose DeWitt-Bukater. Visitors can even gaze upon all 11 of the film’s Academy Awards.

But the crown jewel of the exhibit is the authentic recreation of the Heart of the Ocean necklace. The necklace, having 215 diamonds that total 16.6 carats and a 155 carat sapphire, is valued at $250,000. Like the rest of the exhibit, the breathtaking bauble will remain in Branson until the end of the year.

John Joslyn, owner of the Titanic Museum Attraction, said, “We feel that this movie has earned its own place in history and, like ‘Titanic’ herself, will stand forever as a tribute, not only to the great ship and those who sailed her, but to the vision and extraordinary talent of the film’s creator, James Cameron.”

Joslyn was the second person to put together a $6 million ‘Titanic’ expedition and was the first person to produce six hours of ‘Titanic’ television specials. Every now and then he also lent a helping hand to Cameron, or Jim, as he called the director, during production of the movie. “We went back and forth with them, working on a few things,” he said.

Joslyn also said he was able to see an advanced screening of the film.

“It was so great. Everyone was just knocked out,” he said, adding that one of the great things about the movie is that it has made the ‘Titanic’ a part of pop culture.

Titanic Museum Celebrates the Irish

The Titanic Museum Attraction will celebrate the Titanic/Irish connection March 1 to 17 in a special tribute to the many Irish passengers and crew who sailed on the ship's maiden voyage.

Owner John Joslyn says the 17-day event will feature Celtic dancers, the popular Dirty Old Towne band, Titanic Branson's own versatile crew of Irish storytellers and much more.

Titanic was said to be "born in Ireland” because, in large part, thousands of Irish workmen at the Harland and Wolff Shipyard in Belfast created her. In addition, the ship carried more Irish passengers than any other nationality aboard and employed more Irish crew members than other passenger liners of its day. “These are the brave people we celebrate and the legacy we honor during Irish-American Heritage Month at Titanic,” says Joslyn.

During the event, Irish-costumed crew members will greet Museum Attraction visitors and regale them with the true stories of Irish passengers—those who survived and those who perished. Visitors will also meet Titanic’s own Father Browne, the young Irishman who took the only photographs of Titanic at sea with passengers aboard. “This stunning, world-exclusive exhibit literally stops visitors in their tracks,” says Joslyn. “Father Browne’s photos capture the Titanic story in ways that words alone just can’t.”

The World’s Largest TITANIC Museum Attraction is the new landmark family destination in Branson, Missouri. In nearly two years of operation, it has already welcomed more than 855,000 guests aboard. The 17,000 square-foot, ship-shaped structure - built half-scale to Titanic’s original size – towers more than 100 feet above its anchored position on Highway 76. A 90-minute self-guided or optional audio tour covers 20 galleries on two decks where more than 400 priceless artifacts are on display that once belonged to Titanic’s passengers or crew.

Hot Winter Fun in Branson, MO

The holidays are over, and some of us could be fighting a case of the winter blues in the upcoming months. Branson's promoters say they could have the cure - a little fun!

It's a common misconception that everything is closed in Branson this time of year but there is still some "Hot Winter Fun" during the cold winter months.

Christmas and New Years have come and gone again, and the excitement of the holiday season is behind us, but that doesn't mean all the excitement in Branson is gone.

"We are growing our winter season," said Ross Summers, president of the Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Summers says Branson used to have shows only between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Not long ago, most shows shut down from January through March.

"This is the time they take their vacations. A lot of them revamp their shows every year, put new sets in, and get new songs together," he said.

But now, more shows than ever are open during the season known as "Hot Winter Fun." A few of the theatres that remain open during the winter months include the Grand Country Music Hall, the Dutton Theatre, and the Jim Stafford Theatre.

A lot of the branson shows that are open for hot winter fun will be showcased in one big show at the Jim Stafford Theatre on Feb. 11. It will give folks a sampling of what Branson has to offer.

"It may be harder for a lot of these shows to stay closed in January and February because, as we get more and more people into town, there's revenue there," Ross said.

One big reason for more people in town is Branson's new convention center that just opened in August. Ross says the facility has dates booked into the next three or four years.

"People don't spend all their time at the convention center. They want to get out and see what's available in the local community and, obviously, Branson has more than most local communities," said Ross.

Besides all the entertainment, he encourages people to visit Branson's many museums, including Ripley's Believe it or Not, The Titanic, and the Ralph Foster Museum at College of the Ozarks, and, of course, all the places to shop and eat.
