There are a variety of other shows in Branson that don’t feature country music, including Bill Haley’s Original Comets, Broadway!, Noah – The Musical, Six, and the Acrobats of China. Of course, perennial favorites Yakov Smirnoff, Shoji Tabuchi, Dixie Stampede and Jim Stafford perform throughout the year, offering first class shows right in the heart of Branson.

3) White Water: Branson’s beach within reach is a great place to spend a day while you’re in town. Dive into summer fun on their over 12 acre park which pumps over two million gallons water daily. Branson Dixie Stampede Unveils Changes for 2009 Season

One of Branson’s most popular attractions, the Dixie Stampede Dinner Show, is unveiling some new and exciting changes to its show for the 2009 season. The changes will add to the already stellar combination of a delicious four course feast, entertaining show featuring 32 horses, equestrian stunts, pig races, Longhorns, ostriches, the “Spirit of the Bird” aerial show and, of course, a friendly little North/South Rivalry that is in interactive fun for the whole family.

The changes begin with the Carriage Room Pre-Show event. Previously this show has featured various musical acts or cowboy roping teams, but this year they will welcome comic juggler David Lucas to the stage. His routine, which is still somewhat secret, will feature flying machetes, a unique version of “Malaguena” and enough comedy to keep everyone from the toddler to the Grandpa laughing. The opening act Carriage Room Pre-Show event begins 50 minutes before the regularly scheduled show time.

Dolly Parton, the brains behind the Dixie Stampede Dinner Attraction, is contributing a new song to the show, titled “Sha-Kon-O-Hey.” The Cherokee word translates to “Land of Blue Smoke.” The song was originally written for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park 75th anniversary, which is being celebrated this year. As an “ambassador” for the park, Parton felt this song aptly represented her Tennessee home. It also fit in nicely at the Show because it highlights the land we love, the America we call home.

Last summer, Branson’s Dixie Stampede introduced the “The Missing Man Table & Honors Ceremony.” At that time, it was only available to military reunion groups. Now, they have made it available to any military groups of 15 or more. The ceremony acknowledges the military’s missing men & the missing comrades of our soldiers. The special event can be arranged, in advance, through Group Sales at the Dixie Stampede.

The most top secret event to be unveiled this year is “Skeeter’s New Event.” The folks at Dixie Stampede are releasing few details regarding the new show element, but they do promise that it will be an amazing new addition. You’ll just have to attend the show to see how thrilling it really is!

Dixie Stampede begins its 2009 Season on February 27. Dixie Stampede tickets are on sale now.

Dixie Stampede Branson Announces New Military/POW Salute

Military reunion groups will experience a special tribute at a popular Branson attraction. Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner Attraction has dedicated a “Missing Man Table & Honors Ceremony” acknowledging veterans, active duty, those lost and missing in conflict.

This remembrance is widely performed by veterans’ organizations at banquets and gatherings, honoring those who are missing from the celebration. There have been many different narratives written for the presentation, but the symbolism is quite constant. Dixie Stampede will set the “Missing Man Table” and provide the special honors ceremony by request for military reunion groups only.
As guests are seated, they will see an empty table set for one. The empty place setting signifies Americans from each branch of service, with flags representing Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine. The Honors Ceremony that follows describes each item on the table and its significance.

The “Missing Man Table”

The table is round, signifying everlasting concern for the missing. The tablecloth is white, symbolizing the call to duty. A single red rose in a vase represents the lives of the missing, their loved ones and friends. The vase is tied with a red ribbon, symbol of continued determination to account for the missing. A slice of lemon on the plate is a reminder of the bitter fate of those captured and missing. A pinch of salt symbolizes the tears endured by their families. The Bible represents the faith to sustain those lost. An inverted glass signifies the missing who cannot share the evening's celebration. The chair is empty because they are missing.

The ceremony concludes as guests enjoy each other’s company, a meal and the Dixie Stampede arena show, highlighted by the beautiful Patriotic Finale, reminded of the loved ones and veterans honored that day.

“Not only is this a poignant ceremony appropriate for all branches and all eras, it’s a good fit for reunion groups enjoying Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede,” stated Steve Weyher, board member of Branson Veterans Task Force.

The private ceremony takes place before the Carriage Room pre-show, and is provided by request, free of charge, for military reunion groups of 15 or more attending that evening’s Dixie Stampede Dinner & Show. To arrange a “Missing Man Table & Honors Ceremony” for your military reunion, please contact Pat Veach at 1-800-520-5101 x245, or email patv@dixiestampede.com.

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede is a unique dinner and show experience set in an 85,000-square-foot facility featuring 32 magnificent horses, a stampede of Longhorn steer, dozens of cast members, ostrich races, illusions, music and more, all showcased in a friendly rivalry between the North and the South. With seating to accommodate over 1,000 guests, the show is highlighted by a four-course feast. Pre-show entertainment features the comedy and juggling of Guinness record sport juggler, Albert Lucas, in the facility's Carriage Room.

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede Dinner Attractions operate in three popular destinations: Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Branson, Missouri.

Texas Longhorns New Addition to Dixie Stampede

For the first time in more than a decade, Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede dinner attraction introduces a new show segment, highlighted by a rare indoor stampede of Texas longhorn steers.

“I can’t imagine a better way to kick off my Dixie Stampede show than with a herd of amazing longhorns,” Parton said. “It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I know the audience is going to enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience as much as I do.”

In a feat rarely attempted in an indoor arena, Dixie Stampede treats audiences to a live and up-close experience with a herd of authentic Texas longhorns. Each steer weighs up to 1800 pounds and has a horn length of six to eight feet from tip to tip. Relying on the mystery and magic of the era’s popular folklore, Dixie Stampede opens the show and treats audiences to a dramatic depiction of settlers destined for the wild frontier. Highlights include a poignant appearance by a Native American medicine man who calls on the “Spirit of the Bird,” setting the stage for a spectacular aerialist suspended high above the arena, complete with new music and lighting created especially for the show-stopping performance.

Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede is a unique dinner and show experience set in an 85,000-square-foot facility featuring 32 magnificent horses, dozens of cast members, ostrich races, illusions, music and more, all showcased in a friendly rivalry between the North and the South. With seating to accommodate 1,000 guests, the show is highlighted by a four-course meal. Pre-show entertainment includes a 30-minute bluegrass show performed by the house band in the facility’s Carriage Room.

Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede dinner and show operates in three locations: Pigeon Forge, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Branson, Mo.
